July 2010, really?! I can't believe it's been 3 months since I last wrote. So much happens in just a short time.
We spent the 4th of July in Door County with my parents. It was pretty windy and a little cold, but we had fun. We've been back several times as it's one of our favorite places to go. The kids were able to enjoy some swim time off the Sister Bay pier, later in the season when it warmed up a bit.
August we got the kids registered for school and enjoyed the last of our summer break. Bartek started football practice for the local Optimist Club. He really loves American football! And does really well. His coaches love his enthusiasm and team spirit. Unfortunately he hurt his leg during a practice right before their last game and before playoffs began. He's out for the season but so far it doesn't appear to be too serious. He see's an orthopedic surgeon in November to make sure it's not a torn ligament.
Kasia is doing really well in school. She tells me all the time, "momma I love school and to learn". She's so sweet! She also started wearing glasses and picked out a pretty pair of pink frames. So cute.
Kasia also celebrated her 7th birthday in September.
They're both looking forward to trick-or-treating at the end of this month. Bartek can't decide whether to be a football player or a zombie (is there really much difference? :) JK. Kasia is either wants to be a princess/ballerina or a hillbilly housewife with crazy hair and toothless grin. She lost one of her top front teeth and had to have a total of 5 teeth pulled due to poor dental hygeine while in Poland. Poor baby, it was so hard sitting with her at the dentist. She'd start off so brave and then end up crying before anything really started. She was such a trooper. It took 3 visits to get them all done, but afterwards just she and I went for ice cream and the park to recooperate.
Well, I think that covers everything to date. I'll fill you in if anything else happens any time soon.
Here's a few pictures to commemorate our summer:

They came from near and far!
I try to convince myself, better late than never, but my goal is to someday be on schedule.
In June we met a few of our fellow bloggers at the Milwaukee Polish Fest. We had families come from Nebraska, Minnesota and a few of us from the great state of Wisconsin. I'd have to say even though we had some really great Polish food, the getting to know these new cyber friends in person was really wonderful and the best part of the day.
Here's hoping everyone is having a safe summer and that those waiting for their travel dates, get them soon!

Milwaukee, WI - Polish Fest
To my fellow Polish Adoptive Parents in the general vicinity of Milwaukee, WI, Sarah Kussow & I are trying to get a count or at least general idea of who will be attending Polish Fest this year and how many would like to meet in advance to get to know one another? We plan on attending Polish Fest on Saturday, June 19. Gates open at 12:00, so we were thinking of meeting around 11:00.
Since I work in downtown Milwaukee I'll be researching a space where we can meet. Sarah will be taking RSVP's for a head count. So please, rsvp to sjkussow at hotmail dot com.
We're excited about meeting as many of our fellow blogging friends as possible. Hope to see you there!

It has happened....
It has happened, my 6 year old daughter no longer wants to be known by her Polish name. She wants to be known only as her American name. When we ask what about (K), where is she? She says she's back in Poland. I've read this once before on a fellow blogger's blog, but I didn't think it would happen to ours since they're older. How sad, we've called her by her Polish name from day one, and her brother has called her that forever. Speaking of her brother, he keeps switching back and forth from which name he wants to use. How confusing this must be for them.
Otherwise, they're doing great. Just counting down the days 'til school ends and summer vacation begins!
Oh, and I start my new job on Wednesday! Yahoo!!!! Life is grand!

So much has happened, I don't know where to begin. I guess the best would be, as the song says, "start at the very beginning..."
One of my daughter's spirit fridays' at school was crazy hair day. Many of the kids did multi ponytails and colored their hair, but not my girl! She went all out with her craziness.
We then decided to move out of state and back closer to family. So of course the kids had to say good bye to their friends at school.
And we said good-bye to our friends and neighbors:
We had the fun of loading our moving truck ourselves amongst sun and snow. Fortunately, we didn't have to load while it was snowing.
We arrived to our new destination in time to celebrate Easter and Praise our Lord for all he's done for us and watched over us.
The kids are enrolled in their new schools and fitting in easily. They're both very social kids. Although it was a little tougher for Bartek this time around. But they're doing great.
Our house was up for sale and sold within 30 days, the buyers wanted to take advantage of being under contract by April 30th, so we have a closing to look forward to at the end of May.
And yesterday I was offered a job position that I've been interviewing for for the past month, and I accepted!
Life is good, and we're loving living it!
I hope this will hold people for a little while. I would imagine this summer we'll have plenty to post as we're closer to family and have a lot of things planned to do.
